Are Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars Healthy?

There are many peanut butter recipes that are healthy. It depends on what kind of treat you are going for. These bars have 200 calories each and also pack some protein. Is there sugar, butter, and other ingredients that are not necessarily “healthy”? Sure. Everything in life should be about balance, though.

The unsweetened cocoa powder used for the frosting helps this recipe to be healthier. Many recipes call for chocolate chips to be melted over the top. However, just replacing this one ingredient makes it a far healthier choice when you are looking for a family treat on the weekends or after a long week day.

Are Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars Vegan?

Peanut butter dessert recipes can be vegan if you choose to make some adjustments to the ingredients. Feel free to play around with this recipe to make it vegan and you will still have a delicious treat your entire family will love.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars vs Oatmeal Bars

How to Make Dessert Bars

Dessert bar recipes are fairly simple to make. You just want to make sure you don’t over-bake them, so don’t be fooled by their appearance when you pull them out of the oven. They will look like they are not quite set. However, once you pull the pan out, they will continue to set as they cool down on top of the stove.

Also, please note that while the recipe calls for ½ cup of peanut butter, you will actually need more than this. Additional peanut butter will be spread over the bars after they have baked in the oven and set on the stove. You can even consider replacing almond butter for peanut butter, if you prefer.

Other Dessert Bar Alternatives

If you are not feeling adventurous enough to play around with this recipe, you can look for other recipes that are better suited to your needs. Another favorite of ours is Homemade Peanut Brittle. There are also many vegan and gluten-free versions of treats like Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars and Peanut Butter Candy available with the quick touch of a Google search.
